Defend 1776 – Battle Line: The Battle of Lexington and Concord
April 19, 1775 – Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts
The Battle of Lexington and Concord ignited the American Revolution with fire and defiance. On the morning of April 19, 1775, British troops marched out of Boston to seize colonial weapons in Concord—but they were met by determined militiamen on the Lexington Green. A single shot rang out—the "shot heard 'round the world"—and history changed course. Skirmishes erupted in both towns as American patriots stood their ground. As the Redcoats retreated, thousands of militia swarmed the roads, ambushing the British column all the way back to Boston. What began as a raid turned into a running battle, fueled by outrage and the will to be free. The farmers and tradesmen of Massachusetts had answered tyranny with steel and resolve—to defend 1776 before it even began.
